ELECTORAL POLITICS
Ground Game LA emerged from an electoral campaign, but we remain active — pushing progressive campaigns to win real change. Electoral victories can propel the movement forward, but only if campaigns are deeply rooted in the community.
Los Angeles has a representation crisis: there are a handful of City Council and County Board seats speaking for millions of people. LA has 15 city councilors. Long Beach, a city with 1/10th the population and 1/10th the area, has nine.
These incredibly powerful offices are disconnected from the people and are unaccountable to our needs. In order to overcome these barriers, our movement needs to engage voters directly.
We focus on building power in our communities by driving voter turnout, educating people on the issues, and building resilient networks that will continue the work after elections.
Just getting someone into office isn't enough. We need to win co-governance, so the community has a voice shaping policy. We will never stop lobbying and pushing elected officials towards our broader goals.

ALLIES
Our food, water, and climate are under constant assault by corporations who value profit over the survival of humanity. They have seized control of the very institutions that were built to protect us. We mobilize people to reclaim their own political power, hold our elected officials accountable, and resist corporate control — ensuring we all have the essential resources we need to thrive. This is a fight we must win, because this is the only planet we get.
Bike The Vote L.A. advocates for better active transportation in Los Angeles County by recruiting community leaders to run for political office, engaging with and helping to inform the transportation platforms of candidates, highlighting great candidates through endorsements and voter guides, and helping to get future leaders elected through volunteer efforts.
Sunrise is a movement to combat the climate disaster and create millions of good jobs in the process. We're building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people.
